DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR OF PEDIATRICS AT UAB
For 40 years, the physicians of the UAB Department of Pediatrics at Children's Hospital have been treating children using the highest standards in both medical practice and medical technology. Working together with nurses and staff, we have earned a reputation as one of the finest pediatric health centers in the country and created an ideal environment for both healing and academic pursuits.
The 160 faculty members of the Department of Pediatrics provide a full spectrum of medical expertise, from primary care to subspecialty services. The research enterprise is substantial - ranked in the top 10 in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the commitment to education and training have brought national recognition to the department.
The department's vision is to be among the leaders in improving child health through research and innovation and promoting the well-being of children. Over the last decade, the department has experienced enormous growth, and with the support of the UAB Health System, the School of Medicine, and the Children's Health System, it is strengthening the academic medical center to meet the pediatric challenges of the 21st century.
